Baking & Storage
To enjoy your Marchiano’s favorites at their best, proper heating and storage are key. Follow these simple tips to serve everything hot, fresh, and full of flavor—just like we do back in Philly. From fridge to freezer, we’ll help you keep things tasting oven-fresh every time.
How to Serve Marchiano's Like a Local...
Specialty Breads

-
Slice first! Always slice before heating — this keeps the cheese where it belongs: inside the bread, not all over your pan.
-
Cover and heat: Place slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment or non-stick foil. Cover loosely with foil and bake at 350°F for 10–15 minutes to warm the center and melt the cheese.
-
Uncover to crisp: Remove the foil for the final few minutes of baking to let the crust reach your ideal level of crispness. This also helps avoid sogginess from any leftover moisture.
Mama Marchiano’s Tips:
-
Heating whole (unsliced) bread causes the cheese to spill out — slice first!
-
Heating uncovered the entire time may dry out the crust and leave the center cold.
-
Heating fully covered will warm the inside but can make the crust soggy.
-
The key? Cover then uncover — it’s all about balance. Ovens may vary, so adjust time as needed.

-
Breads can stay fresh in the fridge for up to 2 days, then should be frozen.
-
If refrigerated, let them sit at room temp for 1 hour before baking.
-
If frozen, defrost for 2 hours before heating.
-
For best results, bake covered for 12 minutes, then uncover until crispy and golden.
